The "stimulus" bills partial legislation "directly assaults the rights of states to reject the money coming from the federal government. Human Events reports that the following states have "all introduced bills and resolutions declaring their sovereignty over Obama's actions": Arizona, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, Washington, and West Virginia. There is still time to write your state Governor to ask to have your state do the same.

Ayers protested again.

FoxNews.com - Students at the University of Colorado built a 3-foot by 3-foot "Free Speech Cage" in preperation for the appearance of radical professors Ward Churchill and William Ayers. Sean Daly, a supporter of the two radicals, called the "free speech cage" a mockery of "the so-called free speech zones." Organizer Aaron Smith waved away dissent by saying that "Mr. Ayers and Mr. Churchill have been similarly targeted for their unpopular political beliefs." The University had to beef up security for the event, costing the students an additional $3,000. Churchill was fired from the University in 2007 for "repeated misconduct, including plagiarism." William Ayers was a co-founder of a group responsible for several domestic terror bombings. Churchill referred, in one of his earlier writings, to the 9/11 victims as "little Eichmanns," a reference to a Nazi war criminal. So far fewer than 100 tickets had been sold.

"Joe the Plumber" sues.

Breitbart.com - Samuel Wurzelbacher, aka "Joe the Plumber", the man who became famous for asking Barack Obama about his tax plan, filed a lawsuit against three former Ohio state officials. Wurzelbacher says that he suffered harassment, humiliation and embarrassment as a result of their improper release of private data.

Killer is ruled as mentally ill.

Breitbart.com - A Canadian Judge ruled that Vince Li, the Chinese immigrant to Canada who stabbed Tim McLean to death last July, is "not criminally responsible due to mental illness." Li was accused with beheading and cannibalizing McLean and will be sent to a mental health institution instead of prison or receiving the death penalty. Carol deDelley, Tim's mother, said that "a crime was still committed, a murder still occured." Justice John Scurfield said Li's attack was "grotesque", "but strongly suggestive of a mental disorder." Li will be institutionalized without a criminal record, and reassessed every year by a review board to see if he is fit for release. Li's trial lasted hardly two days, and the court only heard from two witnesses. DeDelley said her son's death highlights concerns about the justice system, alerting people that there is a problem.

Church growing in China.

CBNNews.com - The Chinese Communist Party, which is officially atheist, is beginning to recognize the positive roll that Christianity can play in the modernization of China. Chinese President, Hu Jintao, challenged the Communist Party to view religion as a source of economic and social stability during a meeting at the National Congress in Beijing recently. Zhao Xiao, a top Chinese economist, said the economy is a big story, "but the other story is that we're also seeing a moral and religious revival and the government recognizes this."

"God wants us to be good examples so that China, like America, can one day be a city on a hill that shines the love of Christ for all to see. That's my prayer for China," Zhao said.

Voice of the Martyrs' Todd Nettleton monitors religious abuses in China and says the old Communist tactics of torture, arrests, imprisonment and beatings are still being practiced, especially against Christians who are not registered with the government.Still, he's encouraged by the government attempts to understand people of faith.

Newspapers having hard times.

CBNNews.com - Multiple newspapers companies have fallen on hard times, as evidenced even by our local Lincoln paper shrinking in square inches. Dan Gaino, vice president of Media Research Center, says that in reality "most people now are getting their news online ... the statistic is in the last couple of years, print newspapers have lost somewhere around 43,000 employees." The Rocky Mountain News in Denver, Colorado, published it's final edition. The Tribune Company, publishers of the Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times, is in chapter 11 bankruptcy. The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News, along with the Minneapolis Star-Tribune have also filed for bankruptcy protection. The New York Times Company hopes to raise millions of dollars to help pay off debt by either borrowing against its new headquarters, or by selling it and leasing the building back.

It also decided to suspend its quarterly dividend. And the 100-year-old Christian Science Monitor plans to stop printing newspapers this spring. It will become the first national newspaper published only on the internet. Overall in the United States, the market for getting news hot off the press is declining. In fact, the circulation in nearly all of the top 25 newspapers in the country is down in the past three years.

Abortion clinic owner arrested.

CBNNews.com - Last Tuesday police arrested Belkis Gonzalez, an abortion clinic owner, over charges of tampering with evidence and practicing health care without a license. Gonzalez is the owner of an abortion clinic where, in 2006, abortion "doctor" Pierre Jean-Jacques Renelique is accused of stuffing a living baby girl in a plastic biohazard bag and throwing her in the trash. Autopsy experts ruled that the baby was alive, but the lungs were too "underdeveloped to sustain life." For that reason Gonzalez is not being charged with murder, although she does face two felonies which could result in 1 to 15 years in prison.
